Welcome to Valeriia Ast Photography! My name is Valeriia Astakhina and I am a photographer of newborns and families in Helsinki area, Finland.

I started doing photography leisurely over 10 years ago. After my daughter had been born, my hobby grew into addiction and reached professional level. Now I am happy that my passion gives me emotional satisfaction and supports my family.

I chose to focus on newborn, maternity, child and family photography as I believe that the most precious moments of our lives we have with family and kids. There is nothing more important than family and I love to capture those real emotional moments of your life.

Photographing life together is the perfect way to freeze time.

My philosophy is NOT to photograph in studio as it put extra pressure on you and it makes it extremely hard to get real emotions.

That’s why I love to photograph families and kids outside during all the seasons, but my favorites are in-home sessions! All photos in my portfolio are created at homes and only with natural light. Even those of newborn babies in baskets and smash cakes are taken at home. I bring all necessary props and accessories with me for the session. I would like you to relax and be yourself while I do my part.
